Does the distribution of digital copies of copyrighted textbooks by North American University through its online platform constitute an infringement under copyright law, or is it protected by the fair use doctrine?
The fair use doctrine, codified in 17 U.S.C. § 107, allows limited use of copyrighted material without permission from the rights holder for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research.
